Boating

View as

Boating is where the practical, unglamorous side of owning a boat lives, everything that keeps a hull protected, comfortable and running properly between the actual fishing trips. This collection spans covers, decking, seating, steering, anchoring and winching, propellers and cleaning, and the right pick in each category depends on your boat's size and how it's stored and used, not just what's cheapest on the day.

Boat Covers

A cover is the single biggest factor in how well a boat's gelcoat, vinyl and upholstery hold up between trips, since Australian sun, salt air and dust all do real damage to an uncovered hull over a season. Our range covers boats from 11-13ft right up to 25-27ft, with both canopy and non-canopy fits, in 600D marine-grade fabric as the standard weight for regular trailering and storage, backed by a 1 year warranty. For anyone wanting a longer-term option, our Marine Tech Co range steps up to a premium heavy-duty cover backed by a 2-year warranty. Our Boat Covers range has the full size and fit breakdown.

Marine Flooring & Decking

Self-adhesive EVA foam decking has become the standard upgrade for boat floors, non-slip underfoot even when wet, and far more comfortable to stand on for a full day than bare fibreglass or aluminium. Every EVA sheet in this range runs 6mm thick. Seamanship's panels come in a fixed 240 x 90cm size across four finishes, Dark Grey, Light Grey, Camo and Dark Brown/Teak, styled to look like traditional teak decking. VEVOR's EVA decking is sold in a few width options from around 1.08 square metres up to close to 2.8 square metres per sheet, so you can size the sheet to the section of deck you're covering. Our Marine Flooring and Marine Carpet range has the full breakdown by brand, size and finish.

Boat Seating

Seating options here range from simple stand-up lean seats with 8cm of padding, suited to anglers who want support without giving up mobility, through to folding swivel seats in low and high back styles with 4cm to 13cm of padding depending on how much comfort you want on a long day, up to a full reclining captain's seat with a 19cm thick cushion and a 90 to 155 degree recline for genuine long-haul comfort. Pedestal mounts are available in both a 34-46cm and a 55-75cm adjustable gas-lift range, which covers most boat floor heights without needing a custom fabrication. Our Boat Seats range has the full lineup by padding thickness and mount type.

Steering

For anyone replacing a worn-out or damaged wheel, our steering wheel is a 13.5 inch stainless steel, 5-spoke design built for a standard 3/4 inch shaft, available with or without a grip cover, a straightforward fit for most trailerable boats. Our Boat Steering Wheel collection has both variants.

Anchoring & Winching

Anchoring covers two genuinely different jobs. For reef and sand anchoring on vessels from 3.5 to 7 metres, a purpose-built reef and sand anchor holds in a wider range of bottom types than a standard anchor design. For retrieving the anchor itself without hauling rope and chain by hand, electric anchor winches, available in both 12V and 24V depending on rode length and boat size, take the physical effort out of anchoring and re-anchoring multiple times in a session, which matters if you're working a drift repeatedly over the same patch of structure. Our Boat Anchor Winches range covers the winch side of that, with drum and gravity-feed free-fall options depending on how you prefer to deploy.

Propellers

A worn, damaged or simply mismatched propeller shows up as lost speed, poor fuel efficiency and rougher handling before anything looks obviously wrong with it, and swapping to the right pitch and material for your outboard is often a cheaper performance fix than anything else on the boat. Our Propellers range covers aluminium and stainless steel options across the major outboard brands, with the full pitch and blade-count detail needed to match a prop to your engine and typical load.

Cleaning & Protection

Regular washing matters more for a boat than most owners treat it, since salt residue left to sit accelerates corrosion on fittings and dulls gelcoat faster than UV exposure alone. A dedicated marine wash and wax, like CleanAWORX's Boaties Boat Wash and Wax, rather than a general car-care product, is worth using specifically because it's formulated to lift salt without stripping whatever protective coating is already on the hull. Our Boat Cleaning and Protection range covers wash and wax, rust treatment and pressure washers for the full clean-up job.

The Most Common Mistake

The mistake we see most often across this category is treating boat maintenance items as a one-off purchase rather than a routine. A cover bought once and never re-fitted after a trip does nothing sitting folded in the shed, and a hull washed only when it's visibly dirty has usually already picked up salt-driven corrosion on fittings that a more regular rinse would have prevented. The gear across this collection works best as part of a habit, cover on after every trip, a wash down after every saltwater session, rather than as an occasional catch-up job.

Frequently Asked Questions

Measure your boat's total length including any bowsprit or outboard overhang, then choose the size bracket that comfortably covers it. Our range runs from 11-13ft through to 25-27ft, and it's worth sizing up slightly if your boat sits between two brackets rather than sizing down.

No specialised tools are needed since the sheets are self-adhesive, but surface prep matters more than people expect. The gelcoat needs to be completely free of wax, polish or old adhesive residue for the sheet to bond properly, and the boat shouldn't go back in the water until the adhesive has fully cured. Our Marine Flooring and Marine Carpet range has the full installation guidance.

A manual anchor is perfectly adequate for occasional use or smaller boats. An electric winch earns its keep if you're anchoring and re-anchoring repeatedly in a session, such as working a drift over structure, or if rope and chain handling is physically difficult on your boat.

After every saltwater trip is the standard recommendation, since salt residue left to sit accelerates corrosion on fittings and fades gelcoat faster than sun exposure alone.

Aluminium is lighter and more affordable, suited to casual and everyday boating. Stainless steel is stronger and more wear-resistant, better suited to high-performance use or boats regularly run in demanding conditions.

Our 13.5 inch wheel fits a standard 3/4 inch shaft, which covers most trailerable boats, but always check your existing shaft size before ordering, since fitting the wrong shaft size won't work regardless of the wheel's quality.
